RESPONSE:
- Give all your money to the Rich!
- Government should be controlled by businesses, for businesses.
- The middle-class should suffer so the wealthy can get wealthier.
- People who make money from Inheritances (Lucky Sperm Club) are better than you.
- God really only loves the wealthy.
- If you are born rich, you never have to work… not like the little people.
- Corporations can do no wrong.
- Health Insurance should only be for rich people.
- People who work hard, play by the rules, and want a fair shake at work are evil, blood-sucking leeches who should die.
- Vacations are for wimps.
- You should work until you die.
- Profits over people. Always.
- People exist only to serve the Economy.
- Workers are disposable.
- All African Americans are lazy welfare queens and want your paycheck.
- Every single Muslim is a Terrorist and wants to destroy this country.
- Only Republicans know what the Constitution says.
- Every Founding Father was a right-wing Christian radical who hated Government and loved mega-Corporations… despite what they said, believed, wrote, created, or fought against.
- The only thing Government should do is blow stuff up, and even that should be Privatized at 3X the price.
- Jesus hated the poor.
FOLLOW-UP:
Would you agree with those statements?
Would you vote for a person if that was their platform?
Of course not! So how do they do it?
Distraction and Fear.
UNCOVERS:
The Republican party has ideas, they just mostly are bad. And the only way they can get people to vote for bad ideas is to distract people with fear of… something. They can’t sell their failed economics policies if constituents actually look at the numbers, and historical results, so they get people worked up with emotional issues like Race, Religion, and Fear in order to sell everything else.
If I had a bad car, I mean a really horrible lemon, one way I could sell it would be to run down to Earl Scheib, slap a $99 paint job on it, spray some Febreze, and shine the tires up really well. No one would buy it if they saw all of the rust, smelled the carpet stench, and actually drove the vehicle more than a mile. So instead of fixing the problems, I capitalize on the lack of transparency, distract from the underlying issues, and make money on garbage. When you find out the real truth, that this thing was a piece of crap and you hornswoggled, you are called an evil destroyer of the used car industry, and are called unpatriotic.
THAT is what Fox News, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Rupert Murdoch, Michael Savage, and the Republican Party are doing to the American people right now.
Don’t call these people Racists, even though they probably are.
Don’t pin them down as simple Corporatists, which is clear to see.
Don’t say they are Elitists, because that is too easy.
Just say: Distractors!
Fear-mongering, hate-filled, small-brained, scared, emotional Distractors.
SIDE POINTS:
Using the words “Racist” has lost all power, unfortunately. It only backfires when used.
Re-frame the debate and use emotionally-charged words and phrases like:
- Débutante
- Fear
- Scared
- Hater
- Aristocrat
- Sissy (that always gets a reaction)
- Distractor
- Irrational
- Emotional
- Sell-out (to corporations, or the Paris Hilton’s / Kim Kardashian’s of the world)
- Debutant
- Suck-up
- Lackey
- Boo-hoo
- Jealous
- Country Club
- Caviar-Class
- Gordon Gekko’s
- Negrophobia

Dear President O’ Vulcan, Get Control and Get Pissed
June 4th, 2010RESPONSE:
There are two issues here, Control and Connecting.
We voted for ‘No Drama Obama‘, because we were tired of fake, or irrational, emotion.
What we are looking for in this moment is JUSTIFIED, RATIONAL OUTRAGE, because that is what WE are feeling right now.
There is a very thin line of public perception between being Cool and CALM in Crisis and being Rigidly OUT-OF-TOUCH.
The way ‘The People’ CONNECT with their President is by sharing the same emotion, at the same time.
The President needs to set up a Command Center down there, a physical representation of order, and have the Photo Op of him being pissed off and in-control at the head of the table.
FOLLOW-UP:
Human beings are emotional AND visual; that is not always a bad thing.
This crisis is going on for weeks and weeks without a visual representation of anyone but BP in control.
BP should NOT be in control, and the American people need to SEE that.
BP should NOT be telling the FAA who can or cannot fly where.
BP Should NOT be telling law enforcement where pictures can or cannot be taken.
Clearly, the emotional public perception is that when the Government says they are in control, that it IS NOT TRUE. Fix that!
This isn’t about being FAKE, it is about be HUMAN.
SIDE POINTS:
Vulcans, or sometimes Vulcanians, are a fictional extraterrestrial humanoid species in the Star Trek universe who evolved on the planet Vulcan, and are noted for their attempt to live by reason and logic with no interference from emotion.
